Community Involvement

Adopt-A-School

In May 2008, we continue to support our adopted school with water and sandwiches for the kids and teachers. Linda Paredez, loan officer at the Sanger branch, heads this project.

Adopt-A-School

In 2005, First Central became an Adopt-a-School partner to Bell’s Hill Elementary School, a Professional Development School, located at 2125 Cleveland Avenue in Waco.  Bell’s Hill educates pre-kindergarten through 5th grade students and has been designed “Recognized” by the Texas Education Agency.

In addition to sending First Central employees as volunteers for reading development, First Central has participated in the School’s Field Days and other activities.

Food For Families

For several years First Central has collected canned goods for the local food pantries through the Food For Families drive.  In 2003, 2004, and 2005 and now again in 2007, First Central received the award for the most food collected by a business with 15-30 employees.

American Cancer Society

We have been associated with the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life since 2003.  First Central has always fielded a “team” of walkers for the event, made up of employees and members.  Over the last four years, First Central has donated over $8,000 to the American Cancer Society, through various fundraisers held at the credit union.

We are currently raising funds and putting together our team for the 2007 Relay in Waco, which will be held on October 27th at Hart-Patterson Track Complex.  The 2007 theme is “Dancing Through the Decades.”  We encourage any members to join our team of First Central walkers and you may pick up an entry form at the credit union.

The Hillsboro 2007 Relay for Life was just recently held on May 18th in Itasca and our Hillsboro branch manager, Lana Kapavik, served as co-chair of the Activities Committee. If any members are interested in getting together a team for the 2008 event, please contact Lana at 254-205-0542.

First Central was a corporate sponsor of the 2007 Cattle Baron’s Ball, which also benefits the American Cancer Society.

Toys for Tots

First Central annually collects toys at all locations for the U. S. Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots campaign. The 2007 campaign will kick off on November 15th.
